– austin, design build, CA, AIA Austin homes tour, webber + studio architects
Remodel/addition of a 1968 A.D. Stenger designed single family house that is more expressive of its mid-century roots than the original was. Fully connected indoor and outdoor spaces do triple work, bringing more functionality to the project than would be expected for its size. The desire to expand led to the tall modified a-frame volume which compliments the low-slope lines of the original 1-story house. The vertical cedar screening helps dissolve the tall mass into the canopies of the surrounding trees.
This house was featured on the 2014 AIA Austin Homes Tour, and in the editorial piece “Houzz Tour: New Tower Rises From a Midcentury Ranch House” on Houzz.com
Role: Joined this design-build project mid-way through construction and provided daily on-site and off-site CA services; seeing this project through to completion.
